Andrea del Verrocchio
1435 – 1488
Andrea del Verrocchio (originally Andrea di Cione), Florentine sculptor and painter, who is ranked second only to Donatello among the Italian sculptors of the early Renaissance. His equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni, erected in Venice in 1496, is particularly important. Little accurate biographical information is known about Verrocchio.
