David Martin
1737 – 1798
Scottish painter and engraver. He was a pupil of Allan Ramsay from c. 1752; in 1755 he joined Ramsay in Rome, where he remained for over a year, studying under the patronage of Robert Alexander, an Edinburgh banker.
