David de Haen
1597 – 1622
Dutch painter. He was born in Amsterdam and moved to Rome at a young age where he would remain the rest of his life. He was a key figure in the community of Northern artists who settled Rome in the first two decades of the 17th century, and was a close associate of Dirck van Baburen, one of the leading practitioners of the rapidly developing Caravagesque style in Rome.
