Elisabeth Jerichau-baumann

1819 – 1881

Danish painter. She was born in Poland from German parents as Anna Maria Elisabeth Lisinska Baumann, married to the sculptor Jens Adolf Jerichau. Her father Philip Adolph Baumann (1776-1863) was a mapmaker, At the age of nineteen, she began her studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and she is associated with the Düsseldorf school of painting.
