Gonzales Coques
1614 – 1684
Flemish painter. Van Lerius found the artist's name in a baptismal register for the year 1614; however, an inscription on an engraved self-portrait of 1649 gives 1618 as his year of birth, and in 1666 he himself claimed to be 48. His name is listed in the archives of Antwerp's Guild of St Luke for 1627-28, the year he became a pupil of Pieter Brueghel the Younger.
