Jérôme-Martin Langlois
1779 – 1838
French painter, the son of a miniature painter who did not approve of his son's desire to follow in his occupation. Despite these wishes, Langlois trained with Jacques-Louis David and absorbed his Neoclassical style. He won the Prix de Rome in 1809 and studied in Rome for most of the 1810's.
