Flemish painter, part of a family of artists, son of Joos de Momper. He spent two years in Italy, travelling with Jan Brueghel the Younger, where, according to Arnold Houbraken, he had been an early member of the Schildersbent in Rome. Philips became a member of the Guild of St.
