Sienese painter, active in Pisa, Perugia, San Gimignano, and Volterra, his native city. He was the son of the barber Bartolo di Mino, and he was under 25 in 1386 when he was first recorded, painting statuettes of angels for the new choir-stalls in Siena Cathedral. In 1388–89 he was a counsellor to the Cathedral Works and in 1389 he was first listed as an independent painter.Show more
