A few Serbian painters, born at a time when French Impressionism was already in full bloom, painted very fine work in a style influenced by Monet and his closer associates. The landscape works by Kosta Milievi, such as Spring, are notable for their harmony, brightness and ease; in subject matter and style they recall Pissarro.
