landscapeThis canvas was painted about 1874, when László Paál found the landscape that remained his biggest inspiration until the end of his life. In the spring of 1873, after finishing his studies in Vienna and Düsseldorf, and a short Dutch period, he settled down in the small village of Barbizon, at fifty kilometres from Paris, and surrounded by great forests. By the time he settled down, this area had been the most popular place for landscape painters in France for forty years.
