View of the ground floor hall
1489 · Castello Challant, Issogne (Valle d'Aosta)
mythologicalBoth the short and the long walls of the ground floor hall are transformed by painted decor above the wainscoting into open loggias. The window-like openings, interrupted by draperies of painted brocade, are flanked by graceful marble and crystal columns. They look out onto landscapes of a Netherlandish character, which are enlivened by figures in various activities, notably hunting.
