Vividly De Wet illustrated the Bible story in which the infant Moses was found by Pharaoh's daughter in a reed basket floating on the Nile. The princess and her ladies-in-waiting look with surprise at the find. Gerrit (Gerardus) de Wet was a follower and imitator of Rembrandt.

Gerrit (Gerardus) de Wet, Dutch painter, follower and imitator of Rembrandt. He worked in Leiden, but between 1643 and 1662 he was also active in Haarlem. His subjects were history paintings, portraits and landscapes.
