Frans Bartholomeus Douven

1688 – 1726

German painter, active in Düsseldorf, son of Jan Frans van Douven. He was the pupil of Adriaen van der Werff and copied several paintings by his teacher for elector Johann Wilhelm of the Palatine. He was influenced by Gerrit Dou and painted genre and history paintings as well as religious representations. He was last mentioned in 1726 in Düsseldorf.
